Understand Your Condition
Acthar and Nephrotic Syndrome
Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is a condition that is caused by a number of diseases which affect the kidney’s filtering system. NS is characterized by a group of signs and symptoms including proteinuria and edema (swelling). Proteinuria is a condition in which urine has an abnormal amount of protein.
For patients who are not well controlled with first-line treatment, Acthar is one treatment that may be used to help control proteinuria in certain patients. Acthar effectively reduces the loss of protein from the blood into urine in NS.
