Acthar Home Injection Training Services
To make Acthar therapy as easy as possible, your healthcare provider can request that a licensed nurse visit you in the privacy of your home to provide you with Home Injection Training Services to help you or your care partner learn how to inject Acthar.
This service will be provided free of charge and is made available by support from Questcor Pharmaceuticals, Inc., the manufacturer of Acthar.
Once your healthcare provider has requested Acthar Home Injection Training Services, the injection training nurse will:
- Contact you to set up a convenient time for your home injection training visit (typically within 48 hours after you receive your Acthar shipment from the Specialty Pharmacy). Remember, you must be home to accept your Acthar shipment (Staff from the Acthar Support & Access Program (A.S.A.P.) will also help to guide and expedite this process)
- Review the injection materials and injection supplies (needles, syringes, alcohol wipes, etc) with you or your care partner
- Prepare the medication and supplies for your Acthar injection
- Demonstrate the injection process. (The nurse will show you how and where to inject, but you or your care partner will actually perform the injection)
- Review the proper disposal of used needles and syringes
- Review the proper storage of Acthar
- Answer any questions about your injection
