- H.P. Acthar Gel (repository corticotropin injection) is natural source
ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) in 16% gelatin to provide a prolonged
release after intramuscular or subcutaneous injection.
- H.P. Acthar Gel may be used in the treatment of acute exacerbations of
multiple sclerosis. In the treatment of acute exacerbations of multiple
sclerosis daily intramuscular doses of 80-120 units for 2-3 weeks may
be administered. Your healthcare provider will determine the specific
dosage that is best for you.
- H.P. Acthar Gel is also indicated for diagnostic testing of
adrenocortical function.
- H.P. Acthar Gel delivers efficacy
comparable to high-dose IV steroids. However, with H.P. Acthar Gel, patients
do not need physicians to perform IV administration.
